The Prerogative to Choose

God gives each of us the prerogative for choosing how we want to live – to choose either righteousness or unacceptable behavior. We then experience the consequences of our choices. That happened to Samson when he revealed to Delilah the secret of his strength. He chose to be seduced by Delilah and consequently trusted her with his secret.

He became careless by believing he was indestructible because he’d escaped entrapment so many times. While Samson slept, Delilah’s attendant shaved his head. With the enemy at the door, he awoke to discover the terrible consequences of satisfying his lustful passion instead of honoring God’s calling for his life.

Do you long for life to be different in this coming New Year? Philippians 3:14 encourages you to "press on toward to the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus". Even in the worst failures, God offers healing and reconciliation to those who turn back to Him. Is that a choice you need to make for the New Year?

Keep me far from every wrong; help me, undeserving as I am, to obey your laws, for I have chosen to do right. I cling to your commands and follow them as closely as I can. Lord, don’t let me make a mess of things… Stand ready to help me because I have chosen to follow your will.

  1. Another question which you've got to answer truthfully. i might definitely "butter it up" if you've got been, though, by saying that they were simply downsizing or merging two departments (And you were not needed anymore.) However, don't lie. If you were fired or forced to resign for a significant problem i would not lie around it. Don't tell them the rationale if you do not need to , but don't volunteer it either. Keeping an honest image is extremely important.

  2. It's difficult to grieve through the loss of something very important to us. Yet Jesus says, "Blessed are those who grieve, for they shall be comforted." As we permit the grieving process to heal us and are willing to seek God's cleansing, we are in a position to go forward and discover God's purpose for us. This is my prayer for you, in Jesus name. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge him and he will guide your path." -- meaning: although anger and disappointment are obviously a part of grief, God's plan for you will become more and more apparent as you heal from this significant loss. May God bless you and keep you and cause his face to shine on you and give you peace as you wait to discover the good things God has in store for you. Seek what help is available to you to help you manage this time of sorrow and sadness.
