How Is Success Determined?

What does it take to be successful? However you define success, commitment and hard work are required for being successful. In some instances, success is validated by the smallest measurable time frame. Success may be determined by how well a person manages their strengths and weaknesses.

While intelligence is an important component in realizing personal objectives, other personal factors can sabotage a relationship or career. Children who are not held accountable for their behavior may mistakenly expect indulgence from the rest of society.

Being spoiled is often reflective of a personality where humility is nonexistent. Humility, as designed by God, is a character strength that measures accomplishments and success by means of God’s love and mercy.

Humility says in effect: I am what I am, I have what I have by God’s grace; therefore, whatever I achieve is a gift from God.

Ask the Lord to bless your plans and you will be successful in carrying them out.

Do Commitments Strengthen Faith?

How would you evaluate these past few months in terms of your financial, physical, and spiritual wellbeing? For some, now is the time to modify your lifestyle in hopes of finding ways to resolve some difficult problems that are surely a precursor to a crisis. Would this address your relationships that need healing?

A primary reason for making a lifestyle change is that those we love are affected by our choices. Most people are endowed with enough self-control to stay focused on their commitment to make a needed change. Failing to stay focused can result in failure and severe consequences.

Seeing a commitment through to completion strengthens your faith and trust in the Lord God. Listen to Proverbs 16:3. “Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will succeed.” Joshua 21:45 adds, “Not one of God’s promises made to his people fail, for each is brought to completion.” God will give you the initiative and staying power to make sure your commitments reach their objective.

___________

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.

~2 Timothy 4:7 New American Standard Bible

And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.

~Galatians 6:9 The Living Bible

Milestones of Commitment: Don't Turn Back! - Part 3

The fact that you’re alive indicates that faith and hope are possible for your future. There will be difficult times when circumstances require courage as you come to a crossroads where godly choices are critical. No matter how secure you feel nor how free from trouble you’ve been, life insures that changes will be required somewhere in the future.

Everyone has or will have crossroads experiences that challenge your purpose for living. Reaching a milestone is a point of departure from the old way and is indicative that real change is coming. Each developmental stage of life requires changes that cannot be avoided. While it's true that old, unhealthy attitudes can be retained, most people in time will discard these.

Maximizing a milestone experience requires being vulnerable to seeking God's best plan and then patiently waiting for his guidance. When your eyes, ears, heart, and mind are open and receptive, God will not be late or silent. It’s within God's character to respond to all who seek him, and he promises to be found.
